Whether you are reading assessment reports or conducting assessments yourself, this presentation will have something for everyone. Colleen will break down cognitive assessments to help the audience understand what the test is measuring, what the information means, and how it can be transferred into practical strategies to support students. She will highlight the importance of a valid assessment, from choosing the most appropriate assessment tool for students’ needs to providing usable strategies to consider during assessments. Comorbidities and mental health issues among children with intellectual disabilities and learning difficulties will be discussed, to understand their impact on students’ functioning and how best to support them in the school setting.
